What is a Self-Retracting Lifeline?

A Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL) is a critical safety device utilized in various industries where the risk of falls from heights exists. An SRL consists of a flexible line, typically constructed of steel cable or synthetic webbing, housed within a casing. 

This lifeline can extend and retract within a specific range, allowing the user to move while remaining securely attached to an anchor point. In the event of a sudden fall, the SRL's internal braking system activates instantly to halt the descent and prevent injury. This mechanism often operates based on centrifugal force or other mechanical means.
